Korea's coffee town, two hours east of Seoul. For 2026 the festival left the coffee street and went city-wide.

Who it suits: Coffee travellers. Gangneung is Korea's coffee town and this is the week the roasters all open up at once — though for 2026 the festival spread out of Anmok into the whole city, and a world congress overlaps it.

Where it is

175 km east of Seoul, in Gangneung, Gangwon (straight-line distance from Seoul City Hall, calculated from the venue's official coordinates).

Getting there, from our own checks:

• KTX-eum from Seoul Station — about 1h50 (the Gyeonggang Line, opened December 2017 ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics)

Festival weeks fill local rooms earlier than you would expect. What is available in Gangwon right now:

Outside the big cities, wifi is not something to plan around. Shuttle stops, stage times and the day's program are posted on the organizer's Korean-language page or a Naver Map pin, and they change on the day. A Korean eSIM is the cheapest way to have it working before you land.
