What Korea's own tourism-spending data shows, city by city — not the national totals already in English coverage, but the regional surprises underneath them.
English coverage of Korean tourism runs on the same handful of national numbers — visitor totals, year-on-year percentages, the occasional “record year” headline. Those figures already circulate widely, and repeating them adds nothing. The Korea Tourism Organization’s own data goes much further than that: city-by-city credit-card spending, broken down by nationality and by what it was actually spent on. That level of detail is where the real information sits, because it’s the level almost no English-language source works at.
This section pulls one piece from that data each month — a real number, checked against the primary source, with an explanation for why it looks the way it does.
